The Challenge
As a niche technology company with innovative MEMS sensors, Crossbow needed a strategic buyer who could fully exploit their innovations in defense and industrial markets.
““We developed cutting-edge MEMS sensor technology that needed a larger platform to reach its full potential in aerospace and defense markets.””
What Happened
Crossbow Technology (XBOW) developed aerospace-grade MEMS inertial sensors and wireless sensing solutions over 16 years. Their technology was highly strategic for defense applications, but needed broader market access. Moog Inc., already prime contractor for F-35 fighter flight controls, recognized how Crossbow's sensors could enhance their navigation and guidance systems. The $32M acquisition was perfectly timed - Moog integrated Crossbow's innovations into military and industrial applications while Crossbow's commercial sensor division found continuity through a separate sale to MEMSIC.
